About SN Designs Co
Sandra Newman, the founder of SN Designs Co, invented the original and unique Hump Jumper in 1989, followed by the Puts-it in 1991 and the Buttonhole Buster in 1997, all designed to solve common sewing frustrations. These products are available both nationally and internationally at fabric stores, online sewing notion suppliers, or directly through SN Designs Co.
The concept for the Hump Jumper emerged when Sandy operated a couture bridal shop in Beverly, Massachusetts. She found it challenging to sew multiple layers of fabric with consistent straight stitches. Frustrated with makeshift solutions like sticking paper or wads of material under the back of the presser foot, she decided to invent a better tool.
Having sewn since the age of four, Sandy believed that if she needed this innovative solution, every sewer in the world would benefit from it too. The most challenging part of the process was finding a mold maker willing to create an injection mold tailored to her specifications, especially since they had no prior experience with sewing. After a process of “show and tell,” she successfully collaborated with a manufacturer that typically produced ladies’ high-heel shoes to create the mold. Once the orders for the Hump Jumper began to pour in, the mold maker affectionately nicknamed Sandy “The Hump Jump Lady,” a title that has remained with her ever since.
Those who sleep under a quilt, sleep under a blanket of love.
