Description

Why the Hump Jumper™ is Essential!

The Hump Jumper™ is the bright yellow sewing notion with the catchy, odd name that solves the frustration of stitching over the “hump.” Those difficult places where varying thicknesses of fabric can throw a perfectly good seam out of line. Because I wanted to solve one of the most frustrating sewing problems, I proudly invented the one and only original Hump Jumper™ back in 1986.

The “hump” frustration is created when your presser foot is tilted out of its normal horizontal position. This tilting completely destroys the smooth, even feed you need for a beautiful project. Helpful hint, when you place the Hump Jumper™ under the back of your presser foot, right against the thick fabric, the back of the foot is lifted perfectly. This simple step keeps the presser foot completely horizontal. Successively allowing for an even and continuous feed while eliminating skipped stitches.

Master Any Bulky Sewing Project

As a dedicated sewist, you already know all about these troublesome “humps.” They can happen with zippers, waistbands, belt loops, pants hems, heavy drapery, and creative craft projects. These are the exact places where sewing a thin layer suddenly bumps into sewing a thick layer. To tackle these zones, my durable tool is conveniently available in two distinct thicknesses: 1/16th inch and 1/8th inch.

Many people ask me why we offer two widths. Ultimately, it comes down to absolute precision. For example, when you want to stitch a perfect corner, you simply sew right to the edge, keeping your needle down in the fabric. Next, lift your presser foot and rotate your fabric 90 degrees. Then place either the 1/16th or 1/8th (depends on fabric weight) thickness under the presser foot, lower the foot, and continue stitching. Therefore, you will easily achieve a flawless corner every single time.

Stop Edge Bunching Instantly

When attempting a bulky spot right at the beginning of a seam, place either the 1/16 or 1/8th (again depends on fabric weight) under the presser foot on top of your fabric with the needle down. Lower the foot and continue to sew. This clever step works wonders with seam starts on very sheer fabrics. You can use the 1/16th thickness to stop annoying “bunching up” at a fabric’s edge, or to conquer the bulky spot when beginning to sew a patch pocket. Just slide the tool under your presser foot before you start sewing.

The Hump Jumper™ is truly the ultimate sewing notion for getting you over the “hump”. By adding this tool to your sewing box, right next to your Buttonhole Buster™ and Puts-it™, you will have a complete set of essential notions that solve your most frustrating crafting problems.

As a final handy hint, try using a small piece of Velcro to attach the tool directly to your sewing machine so it is always right at your fingertips when you need it! SN Designs Co is always proud providing her innovative products for your sewing perfection.

Happy Sewing,
